Auxillary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) is a 2 and a half year diploma course in paramedical field that focuses on imparting knowledge about maternity care to the pregnant mothers and post delivery. This is the most basic nursing course after which students pursue GNM and B.Sc Nursing.
There are several private as well as public colleges that offer ANM course. These colleges whether private or govt. must be affiliated to state or central university and approved by Indian Nursing Council. For getting admission in Government Nursing college, one must qualify an entrance exam conducted at National or State level. Admission in government college is done through counseling. On the other hand, admissions are taken directly in private colleges on merit basis. The colleges provide theoretical as well as practical knowledge to the students. Some colleges offer non attending or distance learning also for the same course. Some govt. colleges charge less fee but on the other hand private colleges provide scholarship facility to the students.
