ABOUT BTECH PETROLEUM ENGINEERING
BTech Petroleum Engineering is a four year undergraduate programme that deals with the production of hydrocarbons. Hydrocarbons form the basis of crude oil, natural gas, coal and other energy resources. During this course, students are given theoretical as well as practical knowledge with the help of practicals, presentations and seminars. It helps the students in detailed understanding of the physical properties of oil, gas and water along with its exploration and processing. B. Tech Petroleum is the study and discovery of natural reservoirs and petroleum deposits located inside the earth.
BTech Petroleum is different from other branches of BTech such as Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science etc. This course trains the students and inculcate professional practice in the field of petroleum technology. The demand for this course is arising gradually as the need for the petro engineers is too high due to the scarcity of natural resources and reservoirs which need to have a proper management. The activities involves development of equipment to extract oil and gas, making plans to drill in oil and gas fields; developing ways to inject water, chemicals, gases, or steam into an oil reserve; keep an eye at oilfield equipment installation, operation and maintenance.
Candidates seeking admission in this course must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% from a recognized board and Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects.
