Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national level entrance exam which is a gateway to management programs such as MBA and PGDM. This is computer based test (CBT) which consists of 100 questions from Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension and Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning. CAT qualifying candidates are granted admission to Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institute of Sciences (IISCs) and other Business Schools. This exam is held every year.
ELIGIBILITY
- Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree, with no less than 50% from a recognised university.
- Candidates awaiting their Bachelor courses results may also apply.
- There is no age limit to apply for CAT.
EXAM PATTERN
- In CAT 2020, the time duration of the exam was reduced from 180 minutes (3 hours) to 120 minutes (3 hours).
- The total number of questions in this exam is 100.
- 3 marks are awarded for every correct answer. Each wrong answer costs -1mark. No negative marking for subjective questions.
- CAT application fee is Rs. 2,000 for General category students. For SC/ST/PWD candidates, the fee was increased from Rs 950 to Rs 1,000.
- The candidates can select upto six cities for allotment of CAT exam centre.
- The medium of paper is English.
