Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) is a national level entrance exam conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). This exam is held for the students willing to pursue post graduate pharmacy course i.e., Master of Pharmacy (MPharma).
MPharma is a 2 year postgraduate pharmacy course that is pursued by students after BPharma. After BPharma several students take direct admission in private colleges whereas some are willing to study from well known government institutes. For fulfilling this wish, they have to qualify GPAT. GPAT is conducted once a year at various exam centers in India. This course is conducted on Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
EXAM PATTERN
- The paper comprises of 125 multiple choice questions
- The paper comprises of total 500 marks.
- The total time allotted to the students is 3hours (180 minutes).
- Each correct answer fetches 1mark and each incorrect answer costs -1 negative mark.
- Medium of paper is English only.
ELIGIBILITY
- Students must have a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharma) of a minimum of 4 years duration.
- Candidate must be a citizen of India.
- There is no age limit for appearing in GPAT.
- Candidates who have passed or will be appearing in the lateral entry BPharma program can also apply online.
- Students in the final year of BPharma are also eligible for applying in the examination.
GPAT syllabus consists of the topics taught in BPharma such as:-
- General
- Pharmaceutical Chemistry
- Pharmacognosy
- Pharmaceutics
Based on scores obtained in GPAT, students are allotted colleges in counselling conducted after result. GPAT is popular among pharmacy students and students from all over India appear for this exam.
