Students with Science stream get many options while choosing undergraduate and Post Graduate courses. Some students are interested in Technical fields and some students are interested in making their career in medical and paramedical field. BMLT and BMRIT are two such paramedical courses that are pursued by students after the completion of 10+2.
Bachelor in Medical Lab Technology (BMLT) and Bachelor in Radiology and Imaging Technology (BMRIT) are career oriented courses and are very popular among students. But some students are always confused in the admission procedure of these courses. So, let us clarify the doubts and have a look on detailed information about both the courses.
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a national level entrance exam for the students who wish to pursue MBBS, BDS and other equivalent exams. But some students think that NEET is required to pursue BMLT and BMRIT. It is definitely not so. BMLT and BMRIT can be pursued by taking admission on merit basis and also by qualifying any of the state or central level entrance examination.
BMLT is a three and a half year undergraduate course that focuses on diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases with the help of medical lab technology or laboratory tests. The eligibility criterion to take admission in this course is that a student must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% in Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) from a recognized board of education. The minimum age limit to pursue this course is 17years.
BMRIT is a three and a half year undergraduate course that aims at training students regarding latest techniques used in diagnosis of several diseases and disorders. The eligibility criterion to take admission in this course is that a student must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% in Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Mathematics) from a recognized board of education. Hence, it is clear that NEET is not required to pursue BMLT or BMRIT courses. Although, qualifying NEET might give some benefits to the students like the students get admission in government colleges and get fee relaxation in some private colleges as well. But this does not mean that taking direct admission in BMLT and BMRIT makes difference.
The students taking admission on merit basis also get scholarship facility and fee relaxation. Thus, we can say that students need to work hard from the very beginning and then only they can soar high and achieve success in their field, be it medical or technical.
